On Sunday the 18th took my students to Kirrirom National Park for a day trip. When other teachers heard about it they decided to do the same, we ended up taking 83 students. As you can see from the photos mostly the girls, as the boys all had jobs and could not get the time off.
Modesty was the rule of the day. No bikini's here. Not that they could not afford them it is their culture. They will often wear a singlet type of garment with bare shoulders but will put a lightweight shirt over the top not done up but covering their bare shoulders.
The two weeks following the elections class attendance was terrible often only one student. Self doubt was creeping in. The didn't like me, didn't like my teaching, felt the were not getting anything from the classes. Class levels are back to normal now, a lot who went to the Provinces to vote took a holiday whilst there.Feeling a lot better about myself now as the comments from the students is often why are you going home I want you to be my teacher next semester or you are good teacher I want you to teach my brother/sister. Who am I kidding they are just buttering me up as I will do their assessments at the end of next week.
